Chelsea DeSorbo, IBCLC
Board Certified Lactation Consultant
Chelsea is an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and a graduate of the lactation consultant program at Birthingway College of Midwifery. Chelsea received her clinical training at the Birthingway Breastfeeding Center, where she spent hundreds of hours learning to provide lactation support to new and growing families. Through serving families during the postpartum period, Chelsea developed a strong passion for supporting, protecting, and promoting the goals of breastfeeding parents.
Chelsea’s greatest joy has been the experience of mothering her adventurous son and sweet baby girl. Her own childbirth and breastfeeding experiences strongly inspired her desire to serve other families. She brings a gentle and nurturing energy as she guides you in your own special journey of getting to know your baby. She has gained valuable knowledge and clinical skills through academic coursework and working with families both short and long term and in a variety of capacities. Chelsea’s experience includes supporting families with disabilities and special needs, including multiples. Chelsea understands the value of helping others through challenges with an open mind and compassionate heart and she strives to provide that for each client. Experiencing different family dynamics and building relationships based on meeting individual needs are a huge part of what Chelsea loves about her work.
Chelsea currently offers prenatal and postpartum lactation support. She is committed to bringing comprehensive, holistic care to the families she serves.
Currently, Chelsea is a preceptor for the Birthingway College lactation consultant program. She also serves as a board member, phone support peer counselor, teacher, and outreach coordinator for Nursing Mothers Counsel of Oregon.
When not providing lactation care, Chelsea can be found spending time with her partner, their children, and their dog. Their favorite adventures include exploring hiking trails in the beautiful mountains of the Pacific Northwest, road trips to national parks, camping, cooking, gardening, and family bike rides.
